Free Bus Travel is No April Fools!

I'm really impressed to hear that from 1st April, anyone who is over 60 or disabled will now be able to sign up for free off-peak bus travel anywhere in the country. Consituents over 60 or are disabled in Edmonton already enjoy free travel on the Tubes, buses, DLR or Trams after 9am daily and all weekends through the successful Freedom Pass scheme. However, the new scheme announced will mean that they will now be able to travel all over the country for free on buses. It also means that any passholders visiting Edmonton can use local buses too for free ,and constituents can use their pass while visiting relatives or on holiday in other areas of England.

I think this is a fantastic initiative by the Labour Government and shows that it has listened to what older and disabled people want.

I want to make sure that every one of the 49,900 people in Enfield who are eligible for the new free bus travel scheme gets their Freedom passes stickered with this new bus pass. If you are over 60 or registered disabled, and want to find out how to get your new bus pass, contact my office on 020 7219 6377. Remember, you must sign up by April 1st to get your new pass. You can get more details here.
