Sweating it out for Sport Relief!

This week (Wednesday 27 February) I took part in the Westminster Mile, to help raise money for Sport Relief. Along with over 50 Houses of Parliament members – including Minister for Sport, Gerry Sutcliffe - I swapped my suits for shorts, trainers and Sport Relief Socks before going the distance around St James’s Park.

On the starting line was Olympic Champion, Sir Steve Redgrave. First past the post was Conservative MP David Davies with a time of 5 mins 28 seconds. Hot on his heels were Willie Rennie MP and Chris Bryant MP. They all beat me by a long way I'm afraid to say - I came in at 9 mins 40 seconds!

Now I'm calling on everybody to sign up for the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 16th March. People from Edmonton can go the distance at Victoria Embankment. To sign up go to http://www.sportrelief.com/.

This year there are three distances – 1, 3 or 6 Miles, so you can choose the distance that challenges you most. All money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. Go on, sign up and get running for Sport Relief - if I can do it, anyone can!
