Meet "Molly"

The one on the right is "Molly." The mole.

I know it's a silly photo, but if it means that even one of my constituents see it and remember to take care of themselves in the sun or check their moles for any changes then it will have been worth posing next to someone dressed in a giant mole outfit. At least it wasn't me who had to put the outfit on!

Seriously though. Malignant melanoma - the deadliest form of skin cancer - is now the most common cancer in women in their 20s according to research carried out by the Department for Health and Cancer Research UK.

You don't have to be abroad in a particularly sunny climate to get burnt. Even in Edmonton the sun can cause skin cancer so it's really important to put on a high factor sunscreen and stay in the shade when the sun's at its strongest.

I know, you've heard it all before, but if you put it into practice then you won't let sunburn catch you out. And remember to check your moles and tell your GP if you're worried.
